Vasara Photography Places 3 Senior High School Students Portraits in Top 50 in Model Contest
Abby and Chuck Soliz of Vasara Photography recently had 3 seniors place in the Top 50 in the recent SPA (Senior Portraits Artists) Model Winner Contest. One of the 3 seniors, Connor Wallace, is a Top 10 winner. Vasara Photography took studio photos of 8 area High School Seniors and they are all eligible in the People's Choice Voting which ends this Sunday, Sept. 18th Midnight CDT. Flat Creek Estate Wins Double Gold at International Wine Competition
Flat Creek Estate has gained recognition for “Crafting Quality Texas Wines”. The most recent additions to the wine portfolio are no exception, as evident with recent awards in the San Francisco International Wine Competition, the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition and the Lone Star International Wine Competition. The Double Gold Award at the San Francisco International Wine Competition was given to their Flat Creek Estate Viognier 2010. In addition to the Double Gold Award, Flat Creek Estate also earned a Gold Award, 2 Silver Awards and a Bronze Award for other wine entries. The Wall Street Journal searched the country for the 5 most delicious versions of the American favorite - the hamburger. Lago Vista Resident Headed to Miss Texas USA Pageant
Local resident, Alexis Clark, daughter of Lori Clark of Waterstone Lake Travis has been selected to represent our area in the Miss Texas USA Pageant to be held September 2-4 at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Houston Texas. The winner of this prestigious event will not only win a $40,000 scholarship to Lindenwood University, located in St. Charles Missouri, but they will also go on to compete in Miss Universe. Congratulations to Lori and Alexis.

Constable Adan Ballesteros Receives the Presidents Award for Volunteer Service
Constable Adan Ballesteros, Travis County Constable Precinct 2, received awards Friday, September 3, at the AFL-CIO Annual Labor Day Fish Fry presented by Congressman Lloyd Doggett. The awards are the Presidents Volunteer Service Award for 2009 (Silver, 250 to 499 hours) and 2010 (Gold, over 500 hours and the year is not over!). The award is part of the Presidents Council on Service and Civic Participation in recognition for making a difference through volunteering. Constable Ballesteros hours are for service to the Boy Scouts, Sea Scouts, Explorers, Rotary Club and Knights of Columbus.The President’s Volunteer Service Award is issued by Points of Light Institute and the Corporation for National and Community Service on behalf of the President of the United States to recognize the best in American spirit, and to encourage all Americans to improve their communities through volunteer service, and civic participation. The Award is given to individuals, families, and groups that have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over the course of a 12-month period.

Every year the editors and readers of The Austin Chronicle vote for the "Best of Austin" in a variety of categories. Bam's Roadhouse Grill won a coveted Editors Choice for Best Stuffed Hamburger. Below is what they had to say.

The kitchen staff starts with hickory-smoked, 100% pure beef patties, then fills them with the freshest ingredients around, and the flavors just explode. Like it kinda spicy? Try the Hatch Chile Burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, and, of course, Hatch chiles. Bam's also makes a decent chicken-fried steak, as well as a number of other dishes. It's a laid-back place with a nice biergarten, live music, and great service. Well worth the drive. "
